Split and FBW (Full Body Workout) are two training methods. The first of them is the so-called split training, where each part of the body is trained once a week. The opposite is a full body workout, where every area of the body should be targeted during one workout session. As you can see, these are two extreme methods, that contrast each other. So, which one should you choose to get quick training results?


The essence of the split method?

The main assumption of the split training method is to combine muscle groups into groups and train them on a selected day of the week. During one training unit, a maximum of 2-3 muscle groups are engaged. The method of combining selected parts is very important and it is assumed that the most effective is simultaneous training of parts that complement or are antagonistic to each other. Following this line of thinking, we can train chest and triceps one day, and legs and shoulders the next. The main advantage of split training is a very strong stimulation of muscle growth. By exercising only selected parts, it is much easier to focus on the trained muscles, whilst simultaneously relaxing others.


What is Full Body Workout?

An alternative to splitting is a full body workout. The principle of the method is simple. During one training session, you should perform exercises involving as many muscles as possible at the same time. Typical exercises performed during such workouts are squats, deadlifts, barbell raises, etc.

FBW is an excellent option for training aimed at reducing body fat. It can allow for more harmonious development of muscles as they get used to operating in unison, often when fatigued and can even lead to better regeneration of joints and ligaments for some people. In addition, FBW training is simple and uncomplicated training method.


For whom split and for whom FBW?

Both split and FBW give similar results. Both methods can lead to building mass, increasing strength and sculpting the figure. However, it is assumed that for beginner athletes, a full-body workout will be a better choice. Similarly, people returning to training after a long break or injury should focus on general development exercises. This approach allows the body to get used to greater effort and gradually achieve the intended goals. When FBW no longer gives satisfaction and results, it is worth considering starting split training.
